I believe in miracles. Since Toblerone came along.

12:00

It's a sexy thing it is. Toblerone, I mean.

The nights are dark, Christmas shopping has started (or finished for some eager beavers) there's been storms raging and there's been tragedy around the world. I personally believe, all that accounts for a little break and a treat to yourself. What better treat than Hot Chocolate? A hug in a mug. I have found three words that better it.

Toblerone. Hot. Chocolate.

Yes, you heard right, cast those powdered hot chocolate's away, you don't need that swanky 70% Coco chocolate slabs. Just Toblerone. Now I know, it's expensive to buy the big ones, but my mr brought two massive sticks back from his travels and I've been scratching my head with what to do with them, apart from just eat them and thus the holy grail of hot chocolate was born. Yes I will go so far as to say that.

It's not a quick one. It's a fancy one made out of boredom, love, whatever was in the cupboard and the need to de-freeze from Storm Barney.

As it's Toblerone there will be nougat or nuts in it, the nougat melts, the nuts obviously don't, so if you want a crunch after your hot chocolate that's all dandy. If you don't want that, use a tea strainer when pouring it into mugs. Get them cheap online or any bargain shop!

For the hot chocolate:

3 triangles of toblerone (big Toblerone -1 for each mug) - (3 sticks of the tiny ones! or 1 normal one)
 2 tablespoons of double cream
 3 mugs/cups of whole milk
 Dash of vanilla essence
 pinch of rock salt
 2 tablespoons of chocolate Horlicks

Toppings:

Marshmallows.

Melt the beautiful morsels of  triangular alpine chocolate over a low heat.

Go on, swirl it all over, just like that.

Who knew melting chocolate could be so satisfying.

Now once its melted drizzle those  2 tabkespoons of double cream to combine, so it looks all silky and you want to throw your face in it. (Don't do that though, please.)

Go on, one more close up.

Now throw in your mugs of milk  give it a whisk until the toblerone has melted into the milk
and your having flashbacks of the chocolate river in Willy Wonka or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Keep it on the lowest heat, any higher and it will get a burnt bottom which is just tragic for all involved.

Now whip in your dash of vanilla, Horlicks and pinch of salt (sounds crazy it works). Whisk on medium/high heat for 20 seconds. reduce to low.

The Horlicks helps give it that maltiness and in theory, gets you ready for much deserved beauty sleep whilst the salt brings out the sweetness!

Serve it up with Marshmallows on the top, sprinkles of toblerone, whipped cream, cinnamon, vanilla, brown sugar - whatever makes you happy.

Now, go and curl up on the couch with a big blanket and whack a movie on.
